#Digicitz Topic Survey Result

Thank you to everyone who voted for the next topic in our #Digicitz Topic Survey. Was a much tighter race than expected but with 54.22% of the vote, you have chosen our next topic to be…

“Startups, small shops and bootstrappers: the real value in social media and digital PR for small business”

Next step is for us to find speakers. If you have anyone in mind who you have heard speak before, or perhaps has a really interesting story to tell, please let us know. We are especially keen to get speakers from outside of the normal pool, and perhaps a couple of people who have had bad experiences with social media and digital PR.

An Open Letter about Future Events

We wanted to share something with you all following another rather successful Digital Citizens event last night.

Thank You

Firstly, as you know we canvassed for donations last night. And are delighted to announce that last night we raised $640 from the attendees.

Humble is a word which comes to mind when we wrote that number.

We thank you wholeheartedly for generously donating almost $1000 over two events. And we want to be sure you are aware about what we are doing with those donations. Read more

Digicitz TwitterFall WebApp

Digicits WebApp (Pic)One of the main aims of Digital Citizens is engaging those interested in having a conversation. To do this many events set up a twitterfall screen that can be hidden due to poor placement or perhaps, the audience is not in the room at all. To resolve this issue we have created a DigiFall WebApp (www.bit.ly/digifall) which brings the twitterfall results straight to your mobile device.

Digicitz uStream

So you can’t attend our event? Out of town/country? Still want to be engaged? Brilliant :-)

We have setup a uStream account so that we can livestream the event. Not sure what the picture or sound quality will be like for the first time, but we shall give it a go.

You can either watch the stream on the uStream site (http://www.ustream.tv/channel/social-media-for-social-good-digital-citizens) or below (and I believe they even have apps for android and iPhones….).

Look forward to hearing what you think about the stream.

Digicitz Forum Launched

In an effort to extend the conversations generated by our events, today Digital Citizens has launched a new forum. The key features of this forum include:

If you are unsure of how to use the forum, or update your profile, please just let us know.

So get involved, and tell us what you really think.

Digital Citizens present Private Parts (Video)

Our distinguished panellists debated issues of privacy and online identity, specifically around the distinction between the personal and professional in the digital space, who owns your tweets and whether or not the individual is ever entitled to publicly disagree with their employer or clients.

The panellists for this event were – The panel members are visiting US lawyer and social media specialist Adrian Dayton (Social Media for Lawyers), Sam North (Ogilvy PR), Damian Damjanovski (BMF), and Renai LeMay (Delimiter), who will be wrangled by a very capable moderator, Bronwen Clune (Strategeist).

Digital Citizens intention is to provide an open forum which encourages free and frank debate. Digital Citizens is an inclusive, informal organisation dedicated to knowledge sharing and discussion of social, political, ethical and professional issues related to new technologies and the social web. Its agency neutral and the only qualification for participating is the desire to speak.

Event Topic Survey (Closed)

What event would you like to attend next? We aim to be an inclusive, informal organisation dedicated to knowledge sharing and discussion of social, political, ethical and professional issues related to new technologies and the social web.

We’d like your input to help us plan future events:

(While the event is now closed we would love to hear from you regarding future event/speakers)

Digital Citizens: our principles

  • Aim: an inclusive, informal organisation dedicated to knowledge sharing and discussion of social, political, ethical and professional issues related to new technologies and the social web
  • Format; the format may change depending on the subject under discussion, but the intention is always to enable free, frank and respectful debate
  • We will invite subject matter experts to share their case studies and experience with an emphasis on the exchange of views, rather than a one-to-many format
  • The organisers will suggest topics for future events but we encourage the community to submit subjects for discussion, to be selected democratically
  • Digital Citizens is agency-neutral, transparent and open. We’d love your feedback and input.
